To celebrate the 160th birthday of the House, we’re releasing a limited-edition Paradis Brut Rosé Millésimé 2008 – ” The Angels’ Share “: a name that honors the magic emanating from our century-old barrel cellar, and its natural evaporation over time. To celebrate this anniversary, we’ve decided to open the doors of our wine cellar, to discover the footprint left by time and man.
Visit & tasting of Alfred Gratien Paradis Rosé Brut 2008 “La part des anges” in the vinothèque, followed by a tasting of our two emblematic cuvées: Alfred Gratien Brut & Alfred Gratien Cuvée Paradis Brut Millésimé.
Discover our House by visiting the cellar & underground cellar, then take part in a tasting of old vintages from our vinothèque.
An opportunity to rediscover a part of the Champagne tradition, with wines vinified and aged under wood, without malolactic fermentation and corked in the old-fashioned way.
Champagne Alfred Gratien x Tonnellerie de Champagne
Since 1864, Maison Alfred Gratien has been vinifying and maturing its wines exclusively in
oak barrel, without malolactic fermentation. The exchanges between the wine and the wood
promote micro-oxygenation that brings the wine to life, gives it character, a certain roundness:
this is where our signature lies.
In our cellar of nearly 1 000 barrels, discover the Champagne tradition and come and meet
Jérôme Viard, artisan cooper and founder at the Tonnellerie de Champagne.
Dive into the heart of the different stages of building an oak barrel and discover how Jérôme
Viard and Nicolas Jager, our Cellar Master, collaborated to shape the barrels of House
Alfred Gratien, in order to reveal the full potential of our future great wines of
Champagne.
Jérôme Viard will pass on his passion and knowledge of wood and cooperage, inherited from
ancestral techniques combining gestures and tools, in order to shape by hand these cases
that will see the birth of the first Champagne wines, the clear wines.
Thanks to the transmission of his know-how, you will have the privilege of accompanying him
in the shaping of a barrel, to discover the love of the gesture and the material.
Visit with the intervention of our cooper Jérôme Viard, the participation in the assembly of a
barrel and the tasting of Alfred Gratien Brut, Alfred Gratien Millésimé and Alfred Gratien
Paradis Brut Millésimé.
